HYPE launched its official community outreach campaign in October 2008 called Hispanic Outreach for Postsecondary Education (HOPE), in an effort to promote key college-going steps and information for Hispanic middle and high school students and their parents in Hillsborough County.

In partnership with KnowHow2Go Florida, this campaign targets high Hispanic populated schools in Hillsborough County, particularly English Language Learners and migrant students, distributing promotional materials, hosting school-based college-going seminars, and two at-large community events.
HYPE members are encouraged to volunteer for this exciting initiative designed to create a college-going culture in Hillsborough County. If you are interested in serving your community through HYPE’s HOPE, please e-mail Jose Roldan at hypehope@hypetampabay.com.

Another project Hype has been part of has been Take Stock in Children, a Mentoring program where our members sign up to serve as mentors to students in Hillsborough County.
Mentoring is the key to success for a student. By committing one (1) hour a week for one school year or, if you choose, throughout the duration of their middle and high school careers, we provide motivation, guidance, friendship and support to students designed to help ensure their success in school and life.

Every mentor receives training and support prior to being matched with a mentee.
